The book is a biography of the artist Jean Voigt - his life along with many exquisite full page colour photographs of his art, haute couture fashion, theatre stage designs and costumes.
It covers the early beginning when Jean Voigt was Balenciaga´s apprentrice in the early 60´ties in Paris - his work for Pierre Cardin and many more. His extraordinary set designs and costumes for numerous theatres - along with many years working as an artist painting.
As the only dane ever Jean Voigt gained permission from the socalled 'Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture´, to open up a Haute Couture house in his own name. He did so in 1983.
Maria Sander dedicated this book on the first page to her daughter Zarah Voigt - as she herself also was working with Jean Voigt as her master.
History repeated and Zarah followed her mother´s foot steps and became her fathers work assistance and apprentrice for several years, as they created set designs and costumes for theatres, exhibitions along with haute couture gala gowns.
